How To Connect Webmail To Mac

Webmail is an email service that is accessed through a web browser rather than through an application the way that mail clients such as Outlook does. Syncing webmail services with a Mac computer is very easy so long as you’ve done the setup so that your iPhone has access to the webmail account.

Step 1

Click the “Mail” icon on your iMac to launch the Mail application.

Step 2

Click “Mail” from the Mail application’s main toolbar menu and select the “Preferences” option.

Step 3

Click the “+” icon located at the bottom of the “Accounts”

Step 4

Enter:
“Name” (this can be anything for you to remember the account by)
“Email” (this is your email account, eg: contact@mydomain.com
“Password” (password to your webmail account)
“Description” (this is for your use only to remember the account by)

Step 5

Select your webmail account type from the “Account Type” drop-down menu = “IMAP.”

Step 6

Make sure it is on “IMAP” (not POP)
the Name, Email and Description should already be populated. Scroll down a little to “INCOMING MAIL SERVER” and enter:

Host Name: (this will be your domain name, eg: mydomain.com )
Username: (this will be your email address, eg: contact@mydomain.com )
Password: (this is your password for this email account )

IF it asks you for a “PORT”, put: 993

Click the “Continue” button.

Step 7

Now lets enter your “OUTGOING MAIL SERVER”: (these will be the exact same details as your Incoming)

Host Name: (this will be your domain name, eg: mydomain.com )
Username: (this will be your email address, eg: contact@mydomain.com )
Password: (this is your password for this email account )

IF it asks you for a “PORT”, put: 465

Click the “Continue” button.

Step 8

Click the “Create” button to complete the setup process for your webmail account.
